We’ve Done It!

We want to thank our wonderful community for their immense support to help build the new library building. We couldn’t have seen this project come to fruition without the generoussupport of our residents, visitors and area businesses. On August 1, 2018, the Friends of the PortO’Connor Library officially donated the new Library building to Calhoun County and it was accepted by a unanimous vote at Commissioners’ Court. This is a very proud moment for ourcommunity and proof that by working together, amazing things can happen!

As of November 15, 2018, bookshelves have been installed and the majority of the furniture has been placed. The Calhoun County Librarians will now be working hard to move the books, computers and equipment from the old building to the new. We excitedly await their announcement of the opening of the new library.

Plan to join us for the Grand Opening Celebration at the New Library Building, 506 W. Main Street, Saturday January 19, 2019. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 10:00 am. The new library building has become a reality through the hard work and generosity of our community. This beautiful building is a testament to the spirit of the many people who love Port O’Connor. Come see it for yourself, take a tour, enjoy a refreshment and cake as we celebrate this community accomplishment.
